KardiaMobile Training with Chest Heart & Stroke NI

At Feet Street Podiatry we are always striving to improve our services for our patients!  We have recently invested in KardiaMobile and were very excited to have Amy from Chest Heart & Stroke NI visit the clinic to provide training.

What is KardiaMobile EKG?

KardiaMobile EKG is a small, portable device that allows you to take an electrocardiogram (ECG) recording of your heart. The device works by using two electrodes that are placed on the fingers of one hand, and it can provide a detailed ECG recording in just 30 seconds. The device is FDA-approved and has been shown to be highly accurate in detecting Atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a common condition in which the heart beats irregularly and often faster than normal. It can lead to complications such as stroke and heart failure if left untreated. One of the challenges with AFib is that it can be difficult to detect, as symptoms can be mild or nonexistent. However, advances in technology are making it easier for individuals to monitor their heart health and catch AFib early.

How can KardiaMobile EKG help with AFib?
AFib can be challenging to detect, especially if symptoms are mild or nonexistent. Kardia Mobile EKG can help by providing individuals with a tool to monitor their heart rhythm at home. By using the device regularly, individuals can catch AFib early, which can be key in preventing complications.

How we use KardiaMobile EKG at Feet Street Podiatry
As part of our new patient assessments, podiatrists at Feet Street audify patient pulses within the feet known as Dorsalis Pedis and Posterior Tibial Arteries.  If irregularities are heard, or if indicated by a patient’s medical history, we will use KardiaMobile EKG to investigate further.
This simple test records heart rhythm by setting two fingers of each hand on the touch pads and waiting for 30 seconds to record heart rhythm. The device then provides a detailed ECG report, which can be shared with your doctor for review.

It is important to note that KardiaMobile EKG is not a substitute for medical advice or diagnosis. If you are experiencing any symptoms of AFib or have concerns about your heart health, you should always consult with your healthcare provider.

At Feet Street Podiatry clinic, we recognise the importance of heart health and are committed to providing our patients with the best tools and resources to stay healthy. If you have any questions about KardiaMobile EKG or would like to learn more about our services, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
